The article is devoted to the problems of knowledge management essence as a separate branch of social activity and specialized method of management. Knowledge and information are declared as most important social resources at the present time and as the result, the new branch of management - knowledge management appeared. The research has shown that managers successfully apply some elements of knowledge management; however they don't identify knowledge management as a separate branch of activity. It can be used for experts of intellectual capital, organization management and human research
