The article discusses activities of the European civil society institutions dealing with mentally ill persons and their family members on different levels from self-help groups to supranational alliances. Based both on the author’s research data and the secondary analysis, the paper considers the data on organizational and content variety of activity forms. The author emphasizes the importance of civil engagement in the process of new social practices development.
