The article reviews the collective monograph “Real Estate - Literary Estate”, published as part of “The Russian Estate in the World Context Series”. The leitmotif of the entire book should be considered the idea of an inseparable link between the estate text and reality. The chosen research perspective is implemented primarily through a combination of literary analysis and real-historical commentary. Besides, of interest are the works in which the subject of study is situated on the borderline of sociocultural (“real”) and literary dimensions (E.E. Dmitrieva considers poetic illustrations to the fountains of the Versailles labyrinth, A.V. Firsova writes about the influence of the estate text on the organization of the landscape exposition of Pasternak’s Garden). The authors also focus on the study of resources and ways of mythologizing historical reality in estate literature. T.M. Zhaplova shows how material detail in I.A. Bunin’s works acquires universal significance, becoming a symbol of the estate universe. The opposition of the estate to the outer world (a kind of estate world duality) in children’s and autobiographical literature is characterized by G.A. Veligorsky. Mythologization of the estate world is often carried out through nostalgia (M.V. Stroganov, E.Yu. Knorre). The sixth part of the book (At the Origins of the “Dacha Topos”) attracts attention: it stands somewhat apart, representing a branch of the main (“estate”) research plot (E.N. Stroganova, E. Marie). The authors of the monograph show how the estate, existing in the force field between reality and myth, finds maximum actualization of its mythopoetic potentialities in the literary text.
