Conditions for use of winter forest roads

The possibility and expediency of using improved snow and ice logging roads is determined mainly by the climatic and economic conditions of timber harvesting. If we take into account that in the Urals Federal District the share of logging in the winter period exceeds 60%, then the problem of moving timber over the snow cover becomes relevant. The region has a steady and long winter. All this creates favorable conditions for the development of winter forest transport.
