The article examines the questions of whether China, as the most economically powerful country in Asia, has become a new imperialist or sub-imperialist country that actually maintains the status quo of elite domination. In particular, the dissatisfaction of a number of market participants with the increasing share of Chinese TNCs is noted, and a comparative analysis of the number of TNCs in China, the USA, Japan and Germany for 2008 and 2020 is carried out, which demonstrates a sharp leap towards the increase and capture of new competitor markets. The state plays a special role in the Chinese economy. Thus, the share of the state presence in national TNCs exceeds private participation, which testifies to the effective conduct of business activities, despite the interference from government agencies. Active investment in R&D also demonstrates the growing competitive advantages of Chinese TNCs.
