Respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms as a basic value in the law of the European Union

The paper analyses principles and values of the European Union Law, attempting to classify them and define their place and role in the EU Law in compliance with the new Lisbon Treaty. Besides the author evo-lutes the significance of the principle of respect for human rights and freedoms as a new value of the EU Law, and its place in the system of general principles and values.
