Pattern weaving: cultural context and technological practices

The article analyzes the influence that traditional craft culture has on the life of our ancestors. It describes the history and significance of traditional weaving and plaiting in the cultural traditions of peasants. Particular attention is paid to various technologies and methods of traditional weaving and weaving belts (using the example of describing the characteristic features of the Lipetsk region belts). Attention is focused on the specifics of methods for performing patterned weaving, mastering the techniques of weaving, tugging, and weaving belts on planks and reeds. Tools and devices necessary for the weaving process are described in detail, as well as the decoration of woven products, their further decoration with tassels. Ultimately, the article concludes on the importance of preserving and promoting traditional handloom weaving and basketry in the context of cultural heritage. The author emphasizes the need to preserve traditional technologies and adapt them to the modern era.
