«In animals’ shooting trained.»: mobilization of mining peasants from Olonets province into irregulars in 1812

The article is based on the information contained in the archive manuscripts and describes a recruitment process of 126 riflemen from among mining peasants residing in Petrozavodsk district of Olonets Province. The recruitment was carried out for the battle against Napoleon’s army in 1812. The main attention is paid to the enlistment management executed by the local authorities and their attitude toward peasants’ enrollment into irregulars.
