V. V. Dokuchaev and his followers about preservation of steppe landscapes

The article examines the role of scientific works of V.V. Dokuchaev and his followers in development such directions of science as a geoecology, the science of landscape, nature using and nature conservation. Especially actual direction continues to remain approaches to the decision of problems of preservation of a steppe zoning landscapes, including the organization and functioning protected areas in steppe zone.
