The article deals with the essence of foreign exchange transactions, their classification, the main components of the considered transactions, as well as legal regulation of foreign exchange transactions. The topic under study is relevant, and this can be explained by the fact that in our country the issues related to the study of the essence and technique of foreign exchange transactions are of great theoretical and practical importance. It is connected with necessity of further development of foreign economic activity of our country, with the establishment of convertibility of the ruble, with the rapid development of the banking system in the country and the emergence of new banks licensed to conduct foreign exchange operations and making the first steps in the development of the foreign exchange market, created inside the country and in the international currency market, and it is also connected with the whole course of reforms in our country.
