Vassily Batalov the first Primorye artist teacher

The article deals with the life and creative activities of the well-known painter and draughtsman V. A. Batalov, who was the first to make an attempt to reform the academic system of the professional education in the field of art in the Primorye of the 1920s and contributed much to attract the local inhabitants to painting. He established the Art School and Art College, both named after him, which became the first educational institutions for future artist of the Russian Far East.
