The importance of statins in rheumatology

The use of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors in patients with rheumatological diseases is currently limited by the presence of concomitant hypercholesterolemia. The presence of a rheumatic disease in a patient is not taken into account in modern algorithms for assessing cardiovascular risk. The review provides information on additional factors of cardiovascular risk in patients with various rheumatological diseases.
