Importance of strengthening of Russia's cultural sovereignty and its soft power under conditions of modern political situation

Any country that strives to fulfill its national interests has to choose between direct military conflict and applying peaceful influence on neighboring countries. However, with the advances in modern weaponry and more sophisticated diplomatic tactics, choosing way of warfare is becoming riskier. In the end of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty first the importance of a country’s soft power skyrockets. The foreign nations strengthen their influence, using a wide array of different soft power instruments, ranging from literature to cinematograph and study programs of universities, with granting employment after graduation. This makes them more successful of the political stage. The article contains the definition of soft power, presents a problem of foreign culture affecting Russia and the most effective influencers, and suggestions on how to counter this influence. The author creates ways of developing Russia’s own soft power and contains a list of large foreign social media and hostings, where to apply it, through introducing foreigners to Russian culture and creating a positive outlook on our country.
