Weimar culture and the formation of quantum mechanics: the problem of social determination in the development of science

The article considers the influence of social factors on the development of science. Assumptions about influence of socio-cultural determinism on formation of quantum physics are discussed, what phenomena in society and discoveries in science could contribute to it are considered. Thus, political and economic instability of the Weimar Republic might have been one of the factors denying determinism of classical physics by the German scientific community of that period and, therefore, one of the social prerequisites for formation of quantum mechanics. The article pays attention to the influence of philosophical climate, public opinion on the creation of new concepts.
