Types of influence on the addressee in English media discourse

The article considers certain aspects of the implementation of communicative strategies for informing and arguing in the language of publications in the English-language media. The concept of ecological discourse today is associated with all manifestations of communication in society, communication within individual channels (visual, auditory, tactile), the manifestation of communication rules, ways of presenting and implementing the pragmatic goal of the speaker (etiquette). The types of influence in the materials of information genres about environmental problems are investigated. Attention is paid to the language means of creating journalistic English-language materials. Argumentative tactics that influence the change in the picture of the world of the addressee are highlighted. Examples of the implementation of strategies for informing and attracting attention in the articles “USA Today”, “The New York Times”, “Los Angeles Times”, “New York Daily News” are given.
