Attention to the figure of the victim of crime increases every year in ongoing research at the international level. The role of the victim of crime in the justice system is discussed by scholars in many countries. Victimological knowledge provides an opportunity to expand the boundaries of researched areas in the field of law. This article develops the perspective of the victimological study of the criminal justice system of Russia, based on the review of the main criteria of satisfaction of the needs of crime victims. The necessity of criminal justice system assessment is caused by the recommendations of the United Nations developed to survey the level of victimization in society and determine the level of satisfaction of crime victims in order to study the effectiveness of national and regional justice systems. The international legal framework and the views of scientists on the stated problem are analyzed. The author’s position on the necessity of regular victimological examination of criminal justice system in the country, taking into account peculiarities of the legal system and victimization of Russian society is stated. The attention of the author is focused on the prospects of application of victimological expertise in the framework of building the strategy of criminal policy of Russia.
