Virtual museum of the literary character: pros and cons

The article is devoted to the relevant issue of museum practices associated with transforming the idea about the essence of a museum exhibit in the era of the highly spread technologies and the Internet. The paper analyzes the concepts of “virtuality” and “virtualization”, examines their changes to this day. The article discusses the phenomenon of the literary character museum as one of the modern types of literary museums. The author focuses on the problem of expediency of creating a literary character museum in virtual space, the duration and meaning of its existence. The study identifies and describes the positive and negative aspects of the virtualization process of the museum. Based on the original classification of the literary character museums and the analysis of their representation in virtual environment, the author concluded that virtual representations of museums should be actively promoted on the Internet. It is necessary to create new fully virtual museums of literary characters as well.
