The article analyzes the impact of information and communication technologies on the development of modern social life, the value of virtualization in the information society in general and in its economic sector in particular. The author examines the virtual economy as a specific form of exchange processes, modernization determinant of which is the introduction of Internet technologies. It is emphasized that creating a unique information-technological basis of the modern society makes it possible to remodel the elements of a real market economy into the components inherent to a new type of economic life - the virtual economy.
