The article studies the specifics and significance of Russian and Japanese propagandists visual materials of the Russian-Japanese War period, 1904-1905. The author provides a comparative analysis of the self-presentation of the armed forces of Russia and Japan, comparing the symbols and images used by the warring parties in posters, paintings, luboks, icons.
