Visual materials on the history of pre-war Buryatia: complex source characteristic

The article is devoted to the characteristic of visual materials as a source complex created in the territory of Buryat-Mongol ASSR in the 1920-1930s. Photos, newsreels, posters, maps, paintings, book graphics are presented in the state, departmental and private collections of Buryatia and outside it, i.e. in the archives and museums of Krasnogorsk, St. Petersburg, Irkutsk, Chita. The source complex includes photo and film materials, image graphic and image artistic sources. As additional groups of sources the author considers the published and unpublished written evidences reflecting the history and the process of visual materials creation and also the oral sources obtained in the course of their identification.
