The paper is devoted to Vyacheslav I. Kanivets (1927 - 1972), scientist-archeologist who was at the beginning of archaeological studying of the European Northeast, the discoverer of Paleolithic sites in the European North, who has made great contribution to working out of the first historical and cultural concepts of ancient history of the population of the Pechora PreUrals.
