The W"urzburg conference of 1859: unsuccessful reform of the German confederation

The article examines an attempt to reform the German Confederation by a group of the «third Germany» states after the defeat of Austria in the war with the Kingdom of Sardinia and France. Using the example of the first Würzburg Conference, the author tries to reveal some basic differences in the «third Germany» members’ views on the reform of the Confederation and the causes of the misfortune of their initiatives.
