Contribution of state security bodies of Arkhangelsk region into formation, training, and combat activity of partisan units on Karelian front

The following article deals with the information concerning formation, training, and combat activity of multiple partisan units and subversive groups sent from Arkhangelsk region to the fronts of Karelia during the period of Great Patriotic War. The accumulated and analyzed information is based on the study of archival documents of the Regional Department of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in Arkhangelsk region and on the research of the documents obtained from the Department of Social and Political History of the State Archive of Arkhangelsk region. Some documents are introduced into the scientific circulation for the first time. The Arkhangelsk partisan units significantly contributed to the provision of stability on Karelian fronts, to transportation services on Kirov railroad, and to containment of large military units in the rear area of the enemy.
