V.I. Kanivets contribution in archaeological study of ancient sanctuaries of the Urals

Brief analysis of the history of research of ancient cave sanctuaries of the Urals is made, the degree they have been studied by the beginning of V.I. Kanivets scientific activity in the Komi Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences is determined. On this background the place and role of the scientist in archaeological researches of cult sites of northern areas of the Urals are shown.
