Power and indigenous peoples of the North: experience of interaction: the case of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia)

The article reviews the work of regional authorities responsible for the affairs of the indigenous peoples of the North and gives an assessment of their activities regarding the interaction with individual representatives as well as with non-governmental organizations of the indigenous peoples of the North. Based on the analysis of prescriptive legal sources and the materials of current archives of state authorities we examine mechanisms of power and society interaction with respect to protecting the rights of the indigenous peoples of the North on the example of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia)
