Impact of banking regulation on economic growth in Europe

The crisis of2008 showed weaknesses in the banking regulation. After analyzing the causes of the crisis by regulators and drawing lessons from it, the Basel Committee introduced new standards for banking regulation, called Basel III. Nevertheless, the new standards are currently being criticized because of their ambiguous impact on economic growth in particular in European countries. The article presents the results of a research of European countries on the effectiveness of measures of state intervention and banking regulation in a crisis.
