This article examines the experience of the resort city of Sochi during the difficult epidemiological situation of COVID-19. Due to the pandemic, the resort's doors were closed for three months in early 2020. In June, the city's tourism business was positively affected by the fact that external tourism was unavailable, borders were closed, and the state of strict isolation had a heavy impact on the population, which helped the development of domestic tourism. In just three summer months of 2020, more than 2.2 million people visited the resort, which is 20% more than in the summer of 2019.
