The article defines the role of additional vocational education in the regulation of supply and demand in the labor market in the conditions of rapid innovation processes in the economy. The introduction of digital technologies in business and management leads to the fact that employers need more highly qualified personnel, therefore, they impose new requirements on the skills and competencies of specialists, to which the latter often do not correspond. To meet this demand, specialists must constantly improve their qualifications, or even change the field of professional activity, which is more facilitated by the developed system of additional professional education. The authors in the article analyzed the regulatory regulation of this branch of the socio-economic sphere in our country (regulatory aspects, types of additional professional education), revealed the concept of continuous human learning throughout life. In addition, the paper examines statistical data characterizing the dynamics of coverage of able-bodied Russians with additional vocational education programs in the period 2019 - 2020, which showed that in Russia the share of the population participating in such educational programs is significantly lower than in developed Western countries.
