The work is devoted to the study of some aspects of the social stability of space settlements, as one of the foundations for the successful functioning of human communities in closed small settlements located in extreme conditions. This article presents the first part of the work-an analysis of the possible applicability of IQ and EQ tests and related tools in assessing the appearance and prevention of social problems in teams that find themselves in extreme situations that fill a space settlement. A large sample (more than 10,000) of the results of testing for IQ according to the Eysenck system in the CIS was studied. The subject of this article is at the intersection of sociology, psychology, cognitive science, and information technology. In the processing of the research materials, the tools of probability theory, mathematical statistics and analysis of variance were used, i.e., in general, an interdisciplinary approach was methodically used. The study of the gender difference in the definition of IQ in the CIS (Russia) on a large sample was conducted for the first time.
