The tourism sector is a complex mechanism that is highly dependent on many factors. Tourists carefully choose their vacation or travel destinations based on their own opinion, advice from friends and family, advertising, national and religious characteristics of the destination and much more. The study is aimed at the tourism sector of the Republic of Tatarstan, one of the leading regions in the development of this industry in the country. The basis for the explosive growth of the industry was primarily events. In 2005, Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, celebrated its 1000th anniversary, followed by the Summer Universiade in 2013. These events made it possible to transform the city of Kazan and create comfortable conditions for tourists. Later in 2015, the World Aquatics Championships were held here, and in 2018 Kazan became one of the cities where the World Cup matches were held. Due to the effective management of territories, as well as business support, there is a systematic growth of all indicators of the tourism sector of the region at the present time. However, a detailed study of statistics reveals a number of aspects that do not allow evenly distributing tourist flows, as well as fully satisfying the potential demand for services. There is a high probability of a slowdown in the growth of tourist arrivals. In this article, we will analyze the impact of geographical aspects on the development of tourism and hospitality in the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as draw conclusions and recommendations.
