The impact of import substitution on logistics supply chains

This article discusses the concept and significance of import substitution in modern economic conditions, as well as priority areas within the framework of the approved state program. Currently, the development of import substitution is focused on strengthening the country’s economic security, which is especially important in the context of sanctions consistently imposed by the United States and EU countries. The author analyzes the dynamics of imports, the commodity structure of imports, exports of the Russian Federation, it should be noted that the volume of imports in dynamics in monetary terms shows growth. It was revealed that almost 50% of imports are in the commodity category “machinery, equipment and vehicles”, which directly affect the efficiency of logistics functions and operations, as well as affecting labor productivity. A significant decrease in the share of imports during the analyzed period is observed in the food and pharmaceutical products sector, a slight decrease is typical for perfumes and cosmetics, chemical products. The implementation of the import substitution strategy mainly affects the direction and structure of flows in the supply chains. In the course of the study, the author analyzed the impact of import substitution on logistics supply chains, formulated both positive and negative factors.
