Features of spatial representations in older preschoolers with speech disorders

This article presents a practical analysis of research on the development of spatial representations in children with severe speech disorders (general speech underdevelopment). Based on the conducted research, it is concluded that children with speech disorders form spatial representations more slowly and have their own specific characteristics, depending on the degree and severity of the speech defect. When conducting correctional classes, specialists should take into account the relationship between the development of speech and spatial representations, in order to prevent difficulties that children may encounter in school when learning to read and write.
