Influence of isolation on the number of small mammals inhabiting forests of N. Novgorod region Pre-Volga areas

Quantitative evoluation of the influence of isolation on the population of small mammals of forests and foreststeppe zones of N. Novgorod region has been made. It is shown that isolation greatly influences the number of small mammals on the transition territory from forests to forest-steppe zone. Prominent increase of the number of small mammals, inhabiting vast forest areas, in comparison with small groups inhabiting foreststeppe zones, has been registered.
