The influence of the ecological factors on the cancer morbidity

The researchers studied primary cancer morbidity in the Volsky district. The data obtained were compared with those from the Saratov region and the other Russian regions. The assessed areas included Shikhany and the Volsky district of the Saratov region; these areas were compared with the Saratov region as a whole, with the Russian Federation as a whole and with the Khvalynsky district of the Saratov region as an ecologically clean region. The researchers concluded that the level of cancer morbidity in the environmentally unfriendly region is high, and it is close to that of the Russian Federation in general. The most frequent oncologic diseases in the Volsky district are the malignant tumors of the skin; their incidence is significantly higher than in the rest Saratov region.
