Influence of arctic region economic activity on the habitat safety of the aquatic biological resources

There are characteristic of the key natural resources of the Yamal Peninsula and adjacent territories, as well as ofprocesses of their economic development. The estimation of the impact of economic activities on the ecology of the region is completed. Research identified approaches to conducting business activities with a view to minimizing the negative impact on the environment. There are conclusions about the highly negative impact of the agricultural activities, which are traditional for the local population, and development of oil and gas fields on the ecology of the region. It expressed primarily in destruction of valuable fish populations of whitefish species, destruction of existing ecosystems, significant pollution of the habitat of aquatic biological resources and potential technological and environmental disasters that arise due the risk of accidents during the development of oil and gas fields. As security for the conservation of aquatic biological resources environment research proposes the next measures: toughening of responsibility for poaching and increase in extent of control over this process from regional authorities and the relevant services; strict control over the observance of environmental standards and requirements which are established by the international, federal and regional regulations; establishment of the rules of conducting economic activity in the region which are carrying out the stimulating role concerning economic agents to use new technologies and innovations, which providing safe environmental management.
