The impact of US gas exports on EU energy security

Бесплатный доступ

The article analyzes the role of natural gas in the implementation of the EU energy security strategy. The author argues that natural gas may be the most attractive fossil fuel in combination with renewable energy as part of the future energy balance of the EU countries. Natural gas is less polluting than other types of fossil fuels. The United States sees the EU as a potential market for its liquefied natural gas (LNG), whose production is increasing, and that can provide a solution to the problem of diversifying energy sources for the EU countries and pushing out Russia's active presence in the European hydrocarbon market.
