The impact of the cultural capital of a family on foreign language mastering by students

The article discusses the relationship between the cultural capital of a family and the students' motivation of foreign language mastering. The value of the educational capital of parents, which is a part of the cultural capital, is emphasized. The data of empirical researches is cited. The authors believe that it is the parents' cultural capital that creates the most favourable conditions for foreign language learning by their children. It is also shown, that the majority of students think that the foreign language is a significant component of the cultural capital, since it gives them advantage in future professional activities.
