The influence of national stereotypes on the negotiation process

The article addresses the influence of national stereotypes on the negotiation process in various spheres of international relations, business and diplomacy. The author analyzes the classifi cations of national stereotypes, their influence on the perception and behavior of negotiators, as well as positive and negative aspects of stereotypical thinking in intercultural communication. The article gives examples of successful and unsuccessful negotiations in which national stereotypes played a key role. In conclusion, the author proposes strategies for minimizing the negative influence of stereotypes and gives recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of intercultural negotiations.
