The effect of the forefoot growth disorder on functional status of the limb

Functional status of the lower limbs in the group of patients with hypoplasia of the foot and forefoot stumps (33 patients) was analyzed before and after operative lengthening according to Ilizarov and also in that of patients with the foot gigantism (18 patients). The indices of regional circulation rate were decreased in both groups. The indices of leg muscle strength and limb weight-bearing ability were relatively less for hypoplasia and stumps of the forefoot. The index of weight-bearing ability of the limb operated increased after lengthening of the forefoot.
