Influence of oil multinationals on Russian policy (ExxonMobil and YUKOS oil company case study)

This case study examines the political motives of American multinational oil company ExxonMobil for attempting merger with Russian oil corporation Yukos-Sibneft during autumn 2003. The results of the study indicated that modern Russian oil industry was under control of several major corporations. Some of these corporations are state-owned; therefore, major multinationals would attempt to get closer with Russian capitalist elites to lobby beneficial political decisions.
