The Impact of the Organizational Model of the Emergency Department on the Availability of Emergency Medical Care to the Population of a Metropolis

In modern megacities, the availability of emergency and urgent medical care directly depends on the chosen organizational model of the emergency department. The article considers various approaches to building an emergency and urgent care service, highlights key problems and ways to optimize them. Particular attention is paid to the role of mobile medical units, multi-level systems of interaction between primary health care, hospitals and specialized teams. An analysis of domestic experience in reforming the emergency service is conducted, including examples of reorganization in large cities and ways to improve the efficiency of providing specialized care to certain categories of patients. Conclusions are made that a well-built organizational model can increase the response rate, optimally distribute the load between the levels of the health care system and ensure equal access to quality care for all residents of the metropolis.
