Aim. The paper aims to identify the criteria for early detection of intra-articular epiphyseal fracture of a traumatic nature. Undiagnosed injuries in youth athletes can lead to chronic inflammatory processes, affect sports performance and general quality of life. One of the most severe traumas resulting from intensive physical exercise is intra-articular epiphyseal fracture of the middle phalanx of the third finger. Materials and methods. A retrospective analysis of 7 patient histories with an assessment of clinical and instrumental data was performed. Results. The study involved 7 patients between 10 and 14 years of age with complaints of pain in the third right finger, severe edema of the middle phalanx, and moderate hyperemia which developed after intensive exercise. The intra-articular epiphyseal fracture was detected in 5 patients based on x-ray data. Conclusion. Early treatment and rehabilitation will allow such patients to maintain their quality of life and return to training as quick as possible. An algorithm for communication between a coach and medical staff has been developed for identifying typical complaints of climbers during or after training.
