This paper examines the infl uence of electronic control unit (ECU) architecture and design on the electrical safety of high-voltage (HV) systems in electric vehicles (EVs) with regard to compliance with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Regulation No. 100. Key design aspects of ECUs affecting safety are analyzed, including component selection, insulation, overvoltage protection, and functional safety assurance methods. Examples of engineering solutions and design approaches are provided, along with a review of relevant standards and regulatory documents.
