Impact of state support programs on the development of the agricultural sector of the Russian Federation

The development of agricultural organizations in all countries depends on significant support from the government. This article examines the types of support for the Russian agro-industrial complex. Special focus was put on the state program of the agriculture sector development for the period 2013-2025. A critical analysis shows that further modernization of the Russian agricultural sector is possible only if the sector has conditions for the long-term financial stability and sustainable development. High-priority areas of investment should be technologies for the production of domestic seeds and modern equipment. Further development of agricultural organizations should be carried out through system of innovative solutions. A promising field of development is the promotion of the umbrella brand «Made in Russia», this brand should allow Russian products with significant added value to take a worthy place in the food system of foreign countries. The article analyzes the profitability indicators of public agricultural companies in Russia. The calculated profitability indicators are higher than the average values for the economy, but at the same time there is significant volatility due to the large number of uncertainty factors inherent in the agricultural business. Thus, the prolongation of development and support programs financed by the federal and regional budgets is a vital need.
