The article contains results of testing of polar solvent - water, propanol-2, and ethanol - during the hydrogenolysis of alkali lignin. The highest total number of benzene and phenol derivatives was obtained when using water as a solvent, but propanol-2 shown to be more promising solvent due to the greater conversion. Maximum conversion of feedstock reaches 67.5% in an environment of 2-propanol and 67% in ethanol. The maximum conversion reached only 30% in the water under the same conditions.
