This article presents data on the influence of various factors on the occurrence of calculus in dogs and cats. At the same time, the data obtained as a result of the collection of anamnesis and examination of animals were analyzed and systematized; predisposition of calculus formation depending on the species, breed, age and type of feeding of animals, as well as possible etiologic factors determining the formation of tartar. Studies were conducted on dogs and cats of different ages, breeds and both sexes on the basis of Veterinary clinic "DoctorVet", Ivanovo. In the course of the work, clinical, laboratory, statistical and analytical research methods were used.
