The influence of iodinated («Omnipaque») and gadolinium-based («Magnevist») contrast media on blood cells and kidney morphology of laboratory white rats was studied. The contrast media changed rheology and cell composition of peripheral blood that in turn caused pathologic structural changes in renal parenchyma. These negative changes were more prominent under the influence of «Omnipaque» probably because of its large value of viscosity
