Influence of the Russian hip-hop musical subculture on the political views of young people

The scientific article examines the main mechanisms of the influence of the hip-hop music subculture on the political views of young people, identified during an empirical study through content analysis and online questionnaires. These mechanisms included the lyrics of hip-hop artists, their media and social behavior practices, as well as political views. It was found that most of the surveyed representatives of the younger generation involved in the hip-hop and rap music subcultures listen to tracks by artists such as Oxxxymiron, Noize MC and Husky, whom respondents identified as a group of rappers with politically oriented creativity. According to the results of the survey, about 40 % of the study participants are exposed to political influence from informal leaders among hip-hop artists. In addition, this statement was confirmed by the data of the content analysis of their musical albums. Practical recommendations have been formed for state and public organizations working with young people.
