The article examines the historical features and contradictions of the Time of Troubles. The prerequisites, causes and consequences of the Troubles are revealed. The points of view of historians on the essence of this period and its impact on Russian statehood are reflected. The conclusion is made about the significance of the political events in the history of Russia. Also, the significance of the period of Turmoil on the evolution of Russian statehood as a whole is revealed.
