The mass media impact on the growth of extremism among youth

The study shows the role of mass media in spreading extremism among youth. It is spoken in detail about main ways and means of disseminating extremist materials in the media and on the Internet. The study gives an analysis of destructive trends in Russian media and the Internet as well as information tools and methods used by youth extremist groups and organizations. Much attention is given to the extremist materials that have previously appeared in the media in order to identify the key causes of the extremism spread. Further the author reports focus on highlighting the problem of broadcasting cruelty, violence and extremism by Russian media. The author justifies the relevance of studying the role of mass media as a channel of extremism spreading (among young people included) and its transformation into an instrument of counteraction in the policy of combating extremist activities.
